GEAPP at COP28

Join us at COP28 in Dubai, UAE from 1-12 December 2023 at the SDG7 Global South Pavilion and around Expo City
1.2

For the third year in a row, GEAPP will co-host the SDG7 Global South Pavilion in the Blue Zone with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and our Alliance partners. This promises to once again be the main hub at COP for discussing and showcasing how to unite global efforts on energy, climate and development. It will be an important place to bring together the GEAPP alliance of communities, development finance, governments, private sector and many more.

We will be showcasing progress made towards the ambitious goals we set out to achieve at COP26 with the launch of our second Powering People and Planet Report. This takes an evidence-based view to GEAPP’s work and shows how we continue to refine and direct our activities with a focus on eight countries: Brazil, DRC, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa and Vietnam.

We’ll also be diving into two areas, which our detailed fieldwork has shown will make the biggest impact on the green energy transition:

  • Accelerating Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) – fast-tracking the adoption of renewable energy solutions that can be applied across multiple markets, catalyzing a global shift towards sustainable power sources.
  • Deploying Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – energy storage is the key to unlocking the full potential of renewables and by investing in BESS, we’re creating a more reliable and efficient energy ecosystem.

Underpinning all this, is our #LetsChangeEnergy campaign. We can’t wait to hear your stories of concrete actions already underway, to supercharge the green energy transition in Africa, Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean.
